HHS Renews COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Determination

The Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (“HHS”) has once again renewed his  January 31, 2020 national public health emergency determination for the United States in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.  This renewal becomes effective October 23, 2020 and will last 90 days.  This is the third renewal for this public health emergency declaration.

HHS Provides Additional COVID-19 Provider Relief Payments

HHS is providing approximately $20 billion in new provider relief fund payments to health care providers facing financial hardships because of the COVID-19 pandemic.  This Phase 3 distribution seeks to provide relief funding to a wider range of health care providers than prior distributions, including providers who have previously received or rejected provider relief fund payments, previously ineligible providers, and behavioral health providers.  Providers have until November 6, 2020 to apply for this funding distribution.  More information can be found here.
